Tribal beats, dance, chants... inspired by reggae, French Caribbean, Afro and Latin sounds... a Maytiss show always finds a groove! You’ll hear Creole, English, French, Spanish and other languages in a show that is a meeting place of cultures – not unlike its founder, Danny Dauphin. He’s a mix of Haiti and Quebec, the face of today’s Quebec and tomorrow’s, and someone who knows just how wonderful that mix can be. A few days before this show at La TOHU, Maytiss will release his first CD at Bobards (4328 St. Laurent Blvd.), on Tuesday January 27, at 5 p.m.
HEAD FIRST : PATRICE DAUPHIN
Patrice Dauphin’s music looks ahead but never forgets where it came from. An irrepressible fusion of Haitian popular music, soul and reggae.
