Designed with a broader vision of hand-to-hand technique in mind, Appris par corps puts into play the relationship between two human beings as interpreted by the classic circus performance pair. The confrontation between the two male bodies swings restlessly from gentleness to violence, from the desire to melt into the other and the temptation to escape the bond that irrevocably unites them. Their virtuoso acrobatics features some surprisingly innovative moves that expose the forces of attraction and repulsion between the two brothers. The set design is minimal, the only horizon line the other, as the performers reveal, against a sober backdrop of light and sound, the complexity of a deeply human relationship.
